Adventures by Morse was a popular mystery/adventure radio show created by Carlton E Morse. It was written by Carlton E Morse and John Paul Schofield. It ran from April 25th 1948 to July 18th 1948. The main character was a detective named Captain Bart Friday. Captain Friday wais played by three different actors: Elliot Lewis, David Ellis, and Russell Thorson. Other cast members included Michael Raffetto, Tom Collins, Barton Yarborough, Russell Thorson, Lillian Buyeff, Earl Lee, Harry Lang, Janet Logan, John Mclntire, Jeanette Nolan, Rolfe Sedan, Donal Morrison, Luis Van Rooten, Lal Chand Mehra, Alma Lawton, Barbara Jean Wong, Henry Blair, Betty Lou Gerson, Dix Davis, Peggy Webber, Lou Krugman, Frank Richards, Jeanne Bates, Everett Glass. The announcer was Dresser Dahlstead, and the music was provided by Rex Koury. The First 10 Episodes of Adventures by Morse was a serial called City of The Dead. My favorite Husband was a romantic comedy radio show that ran from 1948 to 1951. This old time radio show eventually evolved into the popular TV series, I Love Lucy. The radio show was based off two novels; Mr. and Mrs. Cugat, The Record of a Happy Marriage and Outside Eden. My Favorite Husband ran for 124 episodes. The cast members were Lucille Ball, Richard Denning, Gale Gordon, Bea Benaderet, Ruth Perrot, and Eleanor Audley. At the beginning, the cast would sing a fun song about Jell-O, who happened to be the sponsor. Before My Favorite Husband evolved into I Love Lucy, it was made into a similar TV series also called My Favorite Husband. Lucille Ball was a comedian, model, actress, and studio executive. She was the first woman to run a TV studio, Desilu, wich produced many well-known TV series, such as Mission Impossible and Star Trek.

The Mysterious Traveler was a popular old time radio show ranging from fantasy to science fiction to mystery and suspense. It ran from 1943 to 1952. One of the most popular episodes to air was Behind The Locked Door, which was repeated often due its extreme popularity. The Mysterious Traveler radio show was also made into a magazine and a comic series. The cast members were Jason Beck, Lon Clark, Roger DeKoven, Elspeth Eric, Wendell Holmes, Bill Johnstone, Joseph Julian, Jan Miner, Santos Ortega, Bryna Raeburn, Frank Readick, Luis Van Rooten, Ann Shephard, Lawson Zerbe and Bill Zuckart. The sound effects were provided by Jack Amrhein, Jim Goode, Ron Harper, Walt McDonough, and Al Schaffer. It’s a shame that only 75 of the 370 episodes still remain. The Mysterious Traveler inspired other old time radio shows, such as The Sealed Book. The show had no sponsors.

The Lone Ranger was an old time radio show written by Fran Striker about a Texas Ranger fighting the bad guys. Some believe the show was inspired by a book called The Lone Star Ranger, which was written by Zane Grey. This radio show was a hit and was made into books, movies, comics, and a TV show. The main character was played by George Seaton, Earle Graser, and Brace Beemer. Other cast members were John Todd, Jay Michael, Bill Saunders, Paul Hughes, Bob Martin, James Lipton, and Dick Beals. The Lone Rnager inspired another radio series called The Green Hornet. The radio show ran from 1933 to 1956. The show aired 2,956 episodes. The Lone Ranger was sponsored my General Mills. Each episode began with: “In the early days of the United States, a masked man and an Indian rode the plains, searching for truth and justice. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear, when from out of the past come to the thundering hoof-beats of the great horse Silver! The Lone Ranger rides again!”

The Whistler was a mystery drama that ran from 1942 to 1955. Every episode began with footsteps and whistling. It’s not a "who done it" show, the criminal is revealed right away. Each episode is about how the criminal got caught. The stories were narrated by the whistler himself.

The cast members were Gale Gordon, Joseph Kearns, Marvin Miller, Betty Lou Gerson, Hans Conried, Cathy Lewis, Elliot Lewis, Gerald Mohr, Lurene Tuttle, and Jack Webb. A TV version of The Whistler was aired for a short time in 1954.
